Disease Prevention

FLU vaccine is typically available between October and January

Due to recent shortages in the FLU vaccine, first priority is given to persons who are 65 and over +/or with disease processes, health care workers. After high risk population groups are served with the FLU vaccine, CHICKASAW COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH offers the FLU vaccine to the public and local businesses.

Variety of clinic sites are designated thru out the county – check flyers and local newspaper for locations.

Clinic sites will be posted in the local newspapers prior to the event. It is not necessary to call for appointments at these sites. The FLU vaccine is offered at these sites on a first come, first serve basis to individuals considered high risk.

For homebound residents in Chickasaw County, arrangements are made for the Registered Nurse to administer the FLU vaccine at their home by calling our office at (641) 394-4053 or Toll Free at 1-800-579-5815.

Medicare covers the cost of the vaccine. Be sure to bring your Medicare Card to the clinics. Flu season vaccine charge to be announced each season.
